Tony Blair’s successor being sought

It would appear the hunt is on for the next MP for Sedgefield. This of course got me thinking about who would be suitable. In doing so it occurred to me that since we are cozying up to Polly Toybee (hopefully for no other reason than to widen our appeal: and given Cameron’s poverty speech this may be the case), perhaps the Labour Party should offer the candidacy to Simon Heffer.

Any better suggestions would be welcomed in the comments.

Perhaps Ruth Kelly? Her Bolton West seat is somewhat marginal, and as we all know, no NuLab Mandarin can be allowed to lose his/her/its seat. After all, I think that we can all agree that a little gay-rights hypocrisy is good for our collective sense of irony....

Ruth Kelly is possible. Ed Balls, whose own seat will disappear, is another strong candidate and a close associate of Gordo. Chris Leslie who was defeated in Shipley at the last election also might give it a shot.

Its rather amusing...ElectoralCalculus is predicting that alot of the seats that had previously been safe NuLab are about to become rather marginal...so I expect we'll see alot of "switching" and moving about.
